I’m also a professional makeup artist…
and have been for 23 years. I cut my teeth on makeup counters in the late 90’s. This gave me the chance to work with real women and their real issues, day in day out.
I soon found myself travelling the country on training teams before I became a global makeup artist with Laura Mercier.
This took me all over the world and is where I honed my skills and perfected the art of the flawless face. Alongside London and Paris Fashion Week and multiple celebrity campaigns, my love for beautiful bridal makeup grew.
I found myself turning down so many requests for bridal makeup due to my hectic travel schedule so that, and meeting my husband, was the catalyst that launched me into creating my own bridal makeup business – Makeup by Katy – which is now in its twelfth season.
I’m a multi-award winner, having won the Wedding Industry Awards UK East “Best Makeup Artist” two years in a row in 2019 and 2020.
Alongside raising two feisty daughters, aged 8 and 4, my heart project suddenly became more important. I realised that the messaging that was out there around makeup and beauty wasn’t what I wanted my daughters to grow up believing. I’d run Beauty Unfiltered as an informative Facebook group for a while, but when my group hit over 1000 women, I wanted to find a more structured way to reach and help more people.
